Hi, I am trying to help a friend with his family tree.
In 1881 I have found George R Heath age 19, born Goatacre Wiltshire living with his father and siblings in Wiltshire.
He is not on the 1891 England census.
In 1901 he is back, living in Surrey with wife Emily Heath who was born in New Zealand, their eldest son Leslie Heath age 9 was born Auckland, New Zealand. The next child, age 7 was born in the UK.

I have now had an email from my friend saying "I was told by my auntie that a lady called Zoe Mace from Mace town in New Zealand married into the Heath family."

Having looked at a map I can see that Macetown is no where near Auckland but you never know.

I have tried various searches on Google to find more about NZ records but havent really got anywhere. So I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Is it possible to get the marriage or birth certs? and what about ships passenger lists (it would be interesting to see if any of Georges family went to new Zealand with him)? Are there any census records from that time?
As you can tell I know nothing about New Zealand research and would be grateful for any help

Hi

Just a suggestion but a copy of his English son's birth cert will give you Emily's maiden name

If you do, make sure you ask for a PRINTOUT, rather than a certificate as they contain more information AND they are cheaper.
It will show details of both Father and Mother for bride and groom.


Passenger lists are on FindMyPast – the index is free, but you have to pay for further details.

Birth and death indexes are only on fiche.  Unable to do lookups today with everything closed.

Can’t find George on the 1893 Electoral Roll.

Thank you Bren, I will let my friend know about the marriage info and see if he wants to get the marriage cert.
I am going to have a look on FindMyPast now to see if I can find George.
