selina walton.
« on: Thursday 20 March 08 20:45 GMT (UK) »

hello . can any-one help me please. my uncle fred walton
(brought up with the smith family 1916.) has rung up and asked me if i can do a trace of the waltons .have not renewed with ancestry yet. had a quick look on the free 1881 census .have walter walton age 23.married to selina walton . age 21 afraid do not know selina surname before marriage .to walter. freds dad died in the first world war . as he was only one .when father died . frederick walton 1915 in the somme.did not get chance to ask any-one .about walter and selina. he thinks selina died young .and walter remarried..but not hundred percent sure.
have mary e walton age 3. thomas h walton age 2.all living in 4 queens street .
the waltons lived in york he said..
have elise russell and frederick walton married cert.
when frederick died ,elise  married my grandfather thomas edward smith .1919.
been very busy on the smith family . so had not looked at the walton line 1901 backwards yet.so if any-one could throw me a life line on the waltons .would be very pleased .

How can you be sure that the mother is Selina and not Mary?

Check c 1898 Walton births for York, deaths 1993-on for the selins/Mary Walton and see what Walter Walton marriages occur in York area in the right timeframe(s)

Doesn't look like walter was married to a selina, at least not from freebmd.
Review previous posting for evidence...
Getting the 1877 birth certificate would be be way to go. http://www.yorkshirebmd.info/

WHO was it that was the father of Fred (b1913/1914)? you write "frederick walton 1915 in the somme".
I can't see any match on the CWGC site, nor any fred as a child of Walter & wife...

Considering all evidence

I suspect the mother and first-born daughter's named were transposed at enumeration.
The 1877 birth cert will certainly clarify...

Yes (or she died) . You have access to freebmd. you can also search the original images on there, you can cross-reference with the index on 1901censusonline

george e walton 19.possibly the same ?
Ditto

rose walton would be 17. maybe a domestic helper ?
ditto (dead, married or away)

florence maude walton now 27 moved to city of regina .
mary walton .now called brandon age 31.
george e walton now 39.
walter walton now 33.
thomas walton brother now 42,
