Thomas Edward PYE.
« on: Thursday 20 March 08 20:56 GMT (UK) »

Gleaned from a census i havr the above named person born in Liverpool in 1827ish.
In a city the size of Liverpool where would i begin to look.
His Fathers name is apparently also Thomas an engineer.
The census of 1841 doesn't help.
He was married and living in London by 1847.

Any pointers appreciated.

Reason I asked on IGI there is a baptism of Thomas Edard Pye =father Thomas =- birth dated  1827 but not christened until he was 3or 4 years old in London - thought he may have been b Liverppol but parents moved to London before he was baptised. (I'll check back for exact years )

Where did you get his father's name and occupation from?

if it was the marriage cert -were the witnesses possibly related to him

Sorry i lost my internet connection.
he was married in 1847 in Woolwich to Caroline Horrall from Devon.
witnesses were Elizabeth Walters and what looks like  C. Sargent(s) but could actually be alot of things.
The igi entry is very interesting, i wonder if Thomas senior is knocking around in th census ??

I can't find anyone who quite "fits"

I suppose if his father was an engineer he could have moved around a lot.

Looked for John Henry but the earliiest I could find one was 1881 and he was married so don't know if he was of parents Thomas and Elizabeth.

Not much help am I ?

i've been stuck on this for years.......... so don't feel bad.
in the 1841 census there is a Thomas the right age with dad William who is an engineer.
i wonder if a sloppy so and so wrote the certificate incorrectly copying Thomas twice.

wishfull thinking
