Longest Life

A bit of a distant relationship, my grandfather's brother's daughter, which makes her my mum's second cousin was born in the last quarter of 1908, means she will be 100 at the end of this year.  I wrote to her last June to let her know my mum had died and she wrote back a lovely letter, apologising for the bad writing because of her age (it was beautiful writing, not like that of an old lady at all), but I hadn't realised how old she was.

I don't want to give her name as she is still alive, well I think she is, certainly her niece who copied a couple of photographs for me, hasn't written to let me know otherwise.

However, I can beat your Longest Life and Longest Marriage with my own parents, but couldn't work out how to cut and paste onto your list.  So I'll just quote.

Longest Life
BENSON (nee Cockett) Mary (20.11.1911-27.5.2007) - 95 years, 7 months, 7 days. (My Mum)
claimed by Lizzie Not So Busy

Longest Marriage
BENSON, Francis William and Mary nee COCKETT married 21 June 1939.  Francis William died on 1.2.2003 - duration 63 years, 7 months, 11 days. (My parents)
claimed by Lizzie Not So Busy

This could be a fun thread... please explain the age gap siblings:  if a woman had her first child at 14, 47 years later she would nearly always be way past the age of childbearing at 61 or 62.

My parents were married in May of 1939 and my dad didn't die until mid July 2003 so that beats yours and Lizzie's. Grin

My 2nd grt gpa had 14 kids between 1853 and 1879 with the SAME wife!

Lots of people will probably claim the longevity prize, but I have a grand aunt and a great grand aunt who lived to be 100 and change.

No problem... maybe people can come up with additional records.
My entry would be "Most spouses", and I would elect my 3rd grt gpa John Fuqua.  Born ca 1807, married 1st in 1828.  His wives kept bearing him children and then dying.  He had 12-14 children with first 3 wives.
He was married at least 5 times and I lose track of him for almost 20 years!  Last marriage was 1876 and it is unknown as yet if he was still alive when his last wife died in 1896.

Most children

Twenty seven by three wives is most admirable but I can claim Joseph Iley and Ellen Bilton in my tree and they had twenty-two, all of their own!
Ellen was pregnant more or less constantly for twenty-six years between 1874 and 1901. At least thirteen of the children lived into adult life. She lived to seventy-eight, so was obviously one very strong woman.
