There may be a 28th child of William Connon, but don't have the relevant information to prove it.

One Mabel Connon Shand was born in 1912, in the village of Monquhitter (where William latterly lived). I found Mabel's death in Keith, 1997. She gives her maidenname as Connon, and mother's maidenname as Shand. This is the same pattern as all the other children - they all adopted Connon as their surname (claiming that William and Agnes were married).

If this is William and Agnes' child, I could claim the record for greatest gap beween siblings - about 50 years (1862-1912). It will be some time before I can prove this though.  Sad

I know I wont come close.  However, I'm interested and think someone (not me) deserves to claim:

Highest number of proven and documented direct ancestors

I've got 116 and I'm proud of that.
I know someone must have a lot more.

Where does documented begin though?

For some I have full name.  Some I just have first name.  Some I have that with an estimated birth.  Some I have an estimated birth, and correct death for.  Some I suspect did not marry. etc...

I have a total of 306 ancestors on my tree, but some have very little information, such as my GGGG Grandmother Mary ?. Can't find her marriage and she died before 1837.  I have her name from the baptisms of her children on the IGI.  I have a similar case on another part of my tree and haven't been able to locate the baptism.

Hmmm?
Matter of opinion I suppose - I never thought that one through.
Having said that, I do not accept info from IGI records as true documentation - that's maybe a discussion for another post?
Any of my records that I get from the IGI, I do not accept 100% until I have backed it up with a copy of an actual record.
Many of the IGI 'records' are based on unsubstantiated submissions.

Most children to single couple

GRIST - Thomas and wife Ann (nee Bent) had 24 children between roughly 1790 and 1817 (can't be more precise, records in storage).   Included 5 sets of twins - 15 of them survived.   He died in 60's, she however died when she was 82!   Now that's some strong lady!

Can we have a Worst Death list ?

My 2xGr. Grandfather was kicked to death by a carthorse, June 1838 !  Makes dying of consumption or old age seem quite comfortable and normal !
