It is possible but I have nothing before the marriage of William Straughan to Mary Ann Kirtley in 1902 he died in 1960 and his wife was born in 1877 so I expect he could have been born around the smae time as her but I have got no eareir details at all as yet.

I have a John Straughan b 1903 son of William Straughan born Tynemouth in my tree, My name is John my grandmother was a Straughan, I was named after her brother John (Jack) and when I go to see my family in Newcastle my name becomes "Jack" but it is John to everyone else.

Thank you for that...

Percyporter, I am intrigued, I wonder if there is a link.

My grandfather was a William Straughan of Northumberland (Ponteland, if that district is recorded), Im not sure if he died in 1987 but I know it was around then, give or take a year at most, and that he was in his mid seventies. He was married to Florence (not sure on maiden surname).

Im told his father was also William, and he passed the William onto my father (Colin) as well (its a family thing, apparently).

However, Im not aware of an aunt of mine that lives in NZ!

Im new to all this and just stumbled on the forum, please excuse my barging in without any information to offer..
