1871 census The Strand
« on: Saturday 22 March 08 09:39 GMT (UK) »

Please can someone do a lookup for me?
I looking for Annie Emery who was born around January 1870, in 1873 her address(Which I obtained from hospital records) was given as 34 castle street Leicester Square, Registered District The Strand, Sub District St Martin in the Fields.
I need to find out the name of her parents to make sure I am researching the right branch of the family.
I would be really grateful if somebody can help me as it would help me solve a puzzle that has bothered me for many years.

Thank you for your interest

Hi

The 1871 has 2 possibles both b 1870.  Don't the hospital records show either parents name?

Born Westminster -  parents George F and Annie
Born St Pancras - parents Thomas & Barbara

Have you looked for her on the 1881 which is free to search at www.familysearch.org

Otherwise - a copy of her marriage cert will show her fathers name

I can tell you that that address in the 1871 is at RG10/354; F33; 24.
Couldn't see any Emery there.

Thank you so much Carol, Jennifer and Pauline.
Unfortunately the hospital records(at Great Ormond Street) do not give the parents address.
The reason I was researching Annie was the fact that she had a genetic condition that is dominant in my family, she also shares the same name as my ggrandmother, but if she was related her father would have been born in Bedfordshire.
Just out of curiosity, would it be possible for someone to look for the birthplace of the Thomas and Barbara mentioned please? As I have an Annie in the 1881 living with her grandparents in Bedford  and she was born in London.
I hope you can understand this post, thank you all again for your help, you have been really kind.

Dear Newfster, thank you so much for your prompt reply, it must be one of the fastest replies ever on Rootschat!
You have given me the answer to something that has puzzled me for years!
This is definately the right family, we now know from which branch of the family this genetic condition came, and this information could be of use in future genetic research!
Thank you again for your kindness, you are a Star!
