Jane HUNT
« on: Saturday 22 March 08 17:40 GMT (UK) »

 Can anyone help me with Jane Hunt?  Born abt 1785 in Exeter, married William Dicker in Exminster 17/02/1801 and died 1838 in Exeter.  I've found all their children etc. I've had a good search around and come up with nothing further on Jane and need some fresh ideas!

Hi
Who were the witnesses at the wedding?   They are often family members so that might help.  Wills?

Well that should be your first step.    Assuming it was an extracted record and not one put on by an LDS member (which may not be reliable) you should ask for a look up of the actual parish register.  Another option is to get the film of that parish and search it at your nearest LDS History centre.  They are worldwide and listed on the familysearch site.  Searching the film yourself often pays dividends as you also see the burials and can build up a much better picture of the extended family.  It is fascinating as you also see occupations and addresses in some cases.  It does depend on the individual vicar though.  Some were better than others.

Hi

I have looked on IGI and see that William Dicker and Jane Hunt seem to have left some clues in their childrens names...eg:

THOMAS BROWNE HUNT DICKER 1805 (3rd son)
JANE ELIZABETH BURNETT DICKER 1811

I have found this marriage which may be of interest;
Thomas HUNT = Jane BROWNE
29 Oct 1771
Exminster
(IGI extracted)

Unfortunately I cannot find any christenings of children for them  Undecided

Many thanks. That's a good starting place. I shall see if I can find  children born to them that could leave a place for Jane.
