Hello All,
I am trying to confirm the Irish ancestors of Luke Joseph KENNY 1898 and have found info on the IGI and IFHF (http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/index.php) which may fit in with the family – based purely on the dates/ and names of children. (I only have anecdotal info that the family originated near Dublin.) I'm trying not to get too chuffed that I may have found them! Could anyone let me know what you think about probability?
The confirmed info is
Luke Joseph KENNY, born in Kent in 1898 married in 1918, who had the following children: Florence Avis Mary, John Herbert, Arthur Mathew, Patrick William, Joan Margaret
From Luke’s birth certificate and census info his father was Mathew Kenny b abt 1871 in Ireland.
Mathew Kenny b abt 1871 married in 1896 in Kent, a widow, Matilda Tugwell nee Corbett ( From their marriage certificate, Matilda’s father was William Corbett a Carter, and from Census info she was born in Tydavnet Co. Monaghan.)
From their marriage certificate Mathew’s father was also a Luke Kenny, a Thatcher.
In addition to Luke (1898) Mathew and Matilda had the following children:
Kathleen Rose 1896 and
Mathew Owen R, 1900
The info I have found is:
*Owen Kenny, b 1866, Duleek, Meath, Ireland: parents Luke Kenny and Rose nee Clarke
*Mathew Kenny, b 1868, Meath, Ireland and died 1869, Meath, Ireland: Parents Luke Kenny and Rose nee Clarke
*Luke Kenny b 1870, Meath, Ireland: parents Luke Kenny and Rose nee Clarke
*Mathew Kenny, b 1871, Meath, Ireland: parents Luke Kenny and Rose nee Clarke
*William Kenny, b 1875, Meath, Ireland: parents Luke Kenny and Rose nee Clarke
*John Kenny, b 1877, Donore, Meath, Ireland: parents Luke Kenny and Rose nee Clarke
I have also found that a Luke Kenny married in Meath in 1860 and a Rose Clarke married in Meath in 1860. (I can’t at the moment afford to buy the information to confirm that the marriages are to each other.)
Is it possible/ probable that Mathew Kenny born in Meath in 1871 is Luke Joseph Kenny’s father, and that Luke and Rose are his grandparents? What do you think? I’d be grateful for thoughts and any suggestions how I could further confirm/ dismiss the info.
