William Headland
« on: Sunday 23 March 08 17:46 GMT (UK) »

I'm looking for help with finding the baptism and ist marriage of William Headland (Hedland/Hadland) He was the father of Thomas Headland baptised souldrop 7th March 1773. Willliam Married Elizabeth Allen and later when a widow married Elizabeth Evans souldrop 6th January 1772.

I can't find his baptism or 1st marriage. I have him as the possible child of Thomas Headland (same spellings as above) and Dorothy Johnson. They may have had another child called William that died as a child.

Thanks. Now it's just his baptism. IGI have a few births if you spell it Hedland or Hadland. Luckily i can't find the first Williams Death! I'm hoping he is the son of Thomas and Dorothy.

Well Lisa, Unluckily for you,

The Souldrop PR has the burial on 30 Dec 1720 of William, son of Thomas & Dorothy Headland. He was baptised at Souldrop 13 Dec 1719, son of Thomas Headland.

Unless this is their first child William, & the one you are looking for came later ?

Their next son was Thomas 1724, who was buried 1726, & they replaced him with a new Thomas in 1729

regards John

Hi there
I did have that William but was hoping he wasn't the one. i think my William was their last child. I have all of the children of Thomas and Dorothy but not my William. It's his parents i need. His birth was around 1830

Please go to the online search at ''blars adlib"  and enter "Head" or "Hed" ["Had"] to look at names?

Plus, do you know if they were Dissenters?

That will effect data - were they skilled tradespeople?
