« on: Sunday 23 March 08 21:58 GMT (UK) »

Looking for info on Lipman family that lived in Inverness from around about 1910.
Does anyone know their occupation or origin.
Am researching for my husbands family tree.

Hi

Can you give us some info re: their christian names and possible birthyears?

Is this a possible 1901 entry for Edinburgh - it's the only Lipman family on the Scottish 1901

Emanuel Lipman 32  b Russia
Jennie Lipman 30
Simon Lipman 11  England
Betsy Lipman 6 b England
Philip Lipman 4     ditto
Sarah Lipman 2    Newington Edinburgh
Abraham Lipman 9months b Newington Edinburgh

They appear to be living with the Capland family

Betsy Capland 55  Russia
Dora Capland 16  Russia

My husbands relative was born Henry John Lipman Mackay in Inverness in 1912.
Scotlands people shows a Hyman Lipman in Inverness having a son Emmanual Jack in 1931, daughter Esther in 1926.

Sorry - you said the surname was Lipman but you are now saying that Lipman was one of his christian names and he was surname MacKay

Where does Hyman Lipman fit in
