Crow, Redditch, 1782
« on: Monday 24 March 08 11:03 GMT (UK) »

Can anyone help with this?

I believe William Crow was born in/near Redditch around 1782.

I believe he married Fanny but have no date.

I believe they had at least 3 children ...
William born 1821
Amelia 1821
William C. Crow 1830.

I got the above info from the 1841 census but have been unbable to find out more. I have searched parish records at Worcester FHC but can't find the above.

Anyone got any ideas or can offer any help?

Many thanks
Helen

Many thanks for the info.

Will have another look at IGI it might give may a clue as to which church in Redditch so I could track through parish registers.

Thanks

Hi Helen,

Don't bother looking for the Church in Redditch at that time.  St. Stephen's wasn't yet built.  Everybody went to St. Batholomew's in Tardebigge.  This was the more 'senior' church as the other was only a chapel, at least initially.

Use the BMSGH (Birmingham & Midland Society for Genealogy & Heraldry) Worcestershire marriage index (1660-1837) to look for likely marriages/parishes.  A set is held at Worcester and if you are a member, in the BMSGH library in Birmingham.  This is not the Central Library.

There is also a National Burial Index to which BMSGH put about half a million names in for Worcestershire.

Regards

Dear Mike

Thyanks so much for the info re churches in Redditch.

I don't get up to Worcester very often or Birmingham for that matter (I live in Bristol) but I will look at the sources you recommend next time I visit.

Best wishes

Hi Helen,

I see from you tag line you have WOODYATTs.  I have a 20th century connection between HANDS (from Redditch) and a WOODYATT.  I have some details from another researcher which takes the WOODYATTS back in to Hereford and Gloucestershire.

If you are interested please contact via a Personal Message.  Living people involved.
