ANNEAR Lookup
« on: Saturday 15 March 08 02:26 GMT (UK) »

Hi there,
I am hoping someone can help me please. I am looking for a marriage of John H Annear he was born c.1914 Truro. His mother was a Rowland. I found his birth on Free BMD's. I thought maybe a marriage around 1935/37 ish. I did find a marriage to Ethel Fielding in 1937 Newton Abbott Devon but not sure if correct one.
Nothing came up on Free BMD's as I am not sure what year this goes up too. Some districts have year spans and others nothing.
I did find two brothers Norman and Cyril Annear. ( Somebody helped me finding Cyril).
Really not sure where else to look.

Many thanks.
Kazza.

Hi
The full BMD index is available to search online at various paying sites and you can also get the films to search at your nearest LDS centre.  However, if you have found a marriage and are not sure if it is correct then life is more difficult.  Do you have any idea of a wife's name?    Did they have children?  It might be better to look for one of them and see what name is given for the mother in the index.  Do take care not to mention people on here who could still be living though.
Another option is to look for his death and see who registered it.  It may be his widow and that would give her first name.  Would he have left a will?

Hi Andrea,
Thanks for your help. I will certainly check out the LDS and order in some films.
I'm not sure if they had children. Until I find that the marriage is correct I really cant check anymore.
I will keep searching.

HI Kazza

I have just searched the full index for you from 1934 when he would have been 20.The 1937 one looks good,as the surname is fairly unusual there aren't that many. Wink

Do you know who his dad was?

You could order the cert and put a reference checking note about not wanting it unless his father is xxx They will check for you and refund £3 if the info doesn't all match up.

Don't forget that couples tend to get married where the girl comes from,so Newton Abott isn't too far fetched  Grin

Hi Carol,
Thanks for the lookup.
I also didnt think the name Annear would be that popular.

His dad was Henry C Annear. I am presuming C being Clinch as this was his mothers maiden name, but a wild guess.

Where do I order the marriage cert from please?

I have searched on free BMD and there isnt an Ethel Fielding born c. 1914.

Still searching, those who search find!! Right.

Thanks

Kazza

You can order certs here http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
it will cost you £7.

Don't forget that it is possible Ethel was married before and Fielding wasn't her maiden name. But I'll see if I can find her later for you in the full indexes.

Hi Kazza

I guess you won't know if that WAS her maiden name or how old she was or who her dad was, until you get the cert  Grin

Hi Carol,
Ethels son is still alive and he may have a copy of the marriage certificate. He doesnt have a computer so its snail mail, then only if they answer.

I have just found his address to write.
