Can anyone help with information about Randal Churton Harries please. Born in Liscard, Cheshire, England 18/06/1878, he was sent to Hamilton, Ontario in disgrace in 1905 - according to the family bible. The bible also states that he joined the army (Canadian or British?) in 1916 and returned 1919. Not sure where he returned to and there is no information after that. Did he remain in Canada, or did he return to England?
His father William James Harries (b03/10/1847 Toxteth Park, Liverpool, England) went to visit him soon after and died in Hamilton 23/08/1906. I believe he is buried in Hamilton cemetery.

Thanks Karen.
Randal had two sisters: Amy Buckley Harries and Dorothy Gibson Harries. Amy was the eldest, so I presume she was the one he listed.

Couldn't find Randall in the 1922 Directory, but I did find an Henry Harries in Hamilton. Maybe this is who Randall was sent to stay with?

Hi Janice and ken67
This is fascinating, thankyou both so much. I love the description of Randal on the back of the Attestation Paper. It really brings him to life! Interesting that he spells Randal with two L's, when it was only one originally.
Randal's father had a younger brother Henry Thomas Harries b1861 in Liverpool, England, but I haven't traced him yet. Maybe he was the Henry that Randal stayed with and he had already gone to Canada , as you suggest Janice. I haven't managed to see the Vernon's city directory yet, as one of their interal links is down at the moment.
I'm wondering if Randal is buried in the same cemetry as his father William James Harries who died in 1906.

Hi Janice and Kiddo
Thanks for all your information. Janice, I have found William James Harries' grave!
Harries, William James Temiskaming County, Evantural, Englehart Town Cemetery, Ref: TMK-
Is it part of Hamilton?
Thanks for Randall's cemetery, but I can't seem to find a date of death, or whether he ever married. He seems to just disappear until his grave appears!
I don't recognise any of the other Harries you found - not family names as far as I know, but maybe they were Randall's children??
Kiddo, thanks for the offer of the photo of Randall's grave. That would be great when you next visit there. As far as I know the ref. is: HM-331-2 at Woodland Cemetery. Is that the plot no. do you think?
