Hi,

I am looking for instances of HEASMAN name in the SMI mainly for the 14 - 16th centuries.  The surname can be spelt in various ways and I appreciate that this could be a big ask.

Would welcome any help in this matter.

Hi there

Just had a quick look on the SMI - there are over 600 entries for the surname HEASEMAN & Variants

It might help if you moved the goal posts a bit in order to narrow down the number of entries

Hi Loulou and Ermy

I have a Phillis/Philladelphia Heasman born 1798 In Barcombe to a Thomas and Mary Heasman. My Phillis was at some stage sent to the Refuge for the Destitute in Hackney I suspect for offending as a juvenile. There she stole some petticoats and smalls and was tried at the Old Bailey and shipped off to Aus in 1815.
Would dearly love to link her up to some family in Barcombe.

I am also researching these Heasmans. My earliest is Francis Heasman born c. 1593 and m. Foord.  Please email me to share info.

I've managed to get back another three generations from Francis and Bridget Heasman using wills (in fact, this is my best line by quite a long way).  I'm descended from their son John bap Jan 1620/1 in East Grinstead - they seem to have been responsible for populating the whole forest area with Heasmans!  Do make another couple of posts and then we can communicate via PM.  Are you by any chance in Oz, I've had some conversations with a Di(ane) from there in the past??

I am in Tennessee, USA.  We were in East Grinstead and Hartfield last year, but hardly enough time to do any paper research.  We found a couple of tombstones of Heasmans and we visited the northwest area of the forest (Hinds Leap) where Francis was a keeper.   It is a beautiful area!

I haven't done anything for a good few years on the Heasmans, after a lull when I was too busy with kids/job I picked it up again but have been concentrating on lines a bit further afield (good excuse for a little trip, I find!).  This apple hasn't fallen far from the tree, I'm less than 25 miles from East Grinstead.  I've emailed you my tree in Word, I'm still paper based, keep planning to get a family tree programme but the thought of all that transcribing is too daunting!

Hi All,

I am a descendant of Henry and Elizabeth Heasman (probable marriage in 1769). 

Their known children, baptized in Barcombe, were:  Ann (1771), Henry (1773), John (1775), Sarah (1779) John (1780), Jane (1782, my ancestor, aka Hannah Jane), Phillis (1785).

If any of you are connected to any of them, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
