George Thomas Rogers - Wallasey
« on: Tuesday 25 March 08 01:47 GMT (UK) »

Hi All,

I am in Australia and have tried the search through ancestry but no luck on 1901 census. Trying to find a wedding birth or baptism for George Thomas Rogers, born around 1869. He married Elizabeth Hayes but cant find the wedding anywhere. They may have been in Wales? Their daughter Gwladys was born in 1902 in Wallasey.

Marriages Jun 1902
HAYES   Elizabeth
ROGERS    George Thomas
Liverpool 8b 137

Unfortunately, that means they weren't married on the 1901 census, so it's guesswork which George Rogers is the right one...  Huh

There's a possible Elizabeth Hayes in Liverpool in 1901 - born in Ireland.

Do you know George's occupation?

thanks Rambler, really appreciate your help,  this marriage must be them, I am told that George was a railway worker and lost his hand in an accident on the railway line Eliz was from Cheshire, daughter of William and Agnes Hayes. What I am really after is some record leading me to George's parents.

The marriage cert will give George's father's name and occupation, which should help pin him down on census.  In the meantime, I'll have a look and see if one of the possibles on the 1901 census was a railway worker of some kind.
