How lucky is that!
« on: Thursday 13 January 05 19:32 GMT (UK) »

Today I received the marriage certificate for my Great Great Grandparents in 1867 of Alfred Hilton and Emily Matthews and of course the interesting bit was finding out the previous generations names, John Hilton (decd) and Henry, and the interesting news that Alfred was a widower when he married

I decided to do a search in the 1871 census just in case I could find Alfreds brother also called John when I spotted a John listed aged 8 as a grandson

Pulled it up and guess what! this John was at Henrys house on the night of the census! He must be Alfreds son from his first marrage because when I entered his details on my computer tree it quite rightly pointed out that Emily would have been under 13 when he was born (there is 8 years diffence in their ages)

So from that not only did I gain all the Matthews family but also a son I didnt know about for Alfred

This now begs the question why are the Matthews looking after him? he is listed as a grandson not a visitor so was Alfred married to Emilys sister originally?

Anyway now one very happy bunny!
