Hi Einstein,

Was William hardy married to Ruth Aram?

I have a Ruth Aram in my tree b. Ilkeston -  there is a story about her -scandal!!!!!

She did not marry William Hardy -but she could be related to William's wife.

Do you have parents etc of William's wife-then I can do a check

Hi Suz,

William Hardy is my gt grandfather, born abt 1862 Codnor?  and yes he did marry Ruth Aram b. 1866, Ilkeston on the 8th Jul 1883 at Babbington Presbyterian Chapel.

I have struggled to find Ruth's parents. I did find a Ruth Aram living with a family called Meers in 1881 but not sure if it is my Ruth Aram. Would love to hear about the scandal.

You say you have them in your tree so how are you related?

A strong possibility for your Ruth Aram is probably illegit child of Selina Aram

Marriage Jun qtr 1870
Basford district
on same page
Selina Aram
John meer
7b 201

I have been trying too connect Selina's father William to my Arams

William was b Nottngham -wife jane was b france

Your Ruth is given as born Ilkeston Derbys in early census -then I think her p.o.b. is changed to Nottingham

I wouldn't be surprised if Selina was a cousin of my Ruth aram -will get my notes out tonight and see what I can find.

This Ruth Aram (mother Selina) lived in Nottinghamshire -as she married William at babbington -which is Nottinghamshire -i think it makes it more of a possibility.

It's all questions - but who were William hardy's parents?

I ask, as with William being  b. Codnor I may have his parents marriage - I have (on paper) marrages at St james PC Codnor from 1844 (when the church opened) until 1894

i was given them many years ago -they were transcribed by someone locally - the marriages don't have witnesses names but they have age s of bride/groom/ and fathers names and occupations

there may be a hardy marriage which is of interest? -haven't looked yet -but you never know
