Hi

Can you tell us :

where he was born?
was he married before he left -  had children - who may also have immigrated?
what were hs parents names?
his occupation? (to try match to any possible Ship manifest)

if he went to Canada. especially, there is the  possibilty of locating a death or marriage document which may confirm his parents names).

Cheers

He was born in Innerwick, East Lothian in 1852. His parents were Peter Learmonth and Jane Taylor. He was married to Margaret Sanderson and had four of a family, whom he deserted in 1885 and was believed to have gone to America. Someone of the same name and age turned up in Australia but the death certificate proved it was not the same person.
