I am in need of some help in confirming these marriages please.

SARAH A DARBY and HENRY FEATHERSTONE married sept qtr 1916 melton mowbray 7a 621 If she is the right SARAH her parents were JOSEPH DARBY c 25 may 1860 melton mowbray and ELIZABETH DARBY(nee DOBNEY).

Next marriage:

WILLIAM DARBY born about 1892 blaby, may of married MABEL GILLIAM march qtr 1916 7a 53 WILLIAM,S parents were WILLIAM DARBY b 1 aug, 1852 mountsorrell and ELIZA DARBY(nee FAULKNER)

NEXT:

JAMES REGINOLD DARBY married LILLIAN M GILLIVER dec qtr 1921 blaby 7a 98
Same parents as WILLIAM. JAMES born about 1894 blaby. May of found a child:

GEOFFREY DARBY born june qtr 1926 blaby 7a 67

Last one:

CAROLINE DARBY born about 1883 huncote,leicestershire same parents as WILLIAM and JAMES. Married either WILLIAM GEORGE TROTMAN or THOMAS WARD june qtr 1904 7a 103

Also one question, Does anyone know anything about how to find CATHOLIC marriages in leicestershire as some of my DARBY ancestors married in a catholic church. Could it be found on the net ??

Hi

Unless you know the name of the church where they were married it is not possible to obtain the details you want from parish records. The only other alternative is to buy a copy of their marriage certificate

You can order online at www.gro.gov.uk In any application were there is doubt as to which is the correct spouse - only put the name you ARE sure of on the application and omit name of spouse

Only fathers names are shown on marriage certs. However - if you know the fathers name, you can put a condition on your application that you only want the certificate if bride/grooms father was ........

If it's the wrong one - you will only be charged a search fee of £3 instead of the full price of £7

I’ll have another go at the others next time I’m at the Records Office

I tried the Melton One but Marriage registers for St.Mary’s Melton are not available at the records Office for the year of your marriage….
So although it stated “ Melton “ on the G.R.O, Index Ref.7a.53. Melton.

I believe it could well be a Village with in the Melton DISTRICT and not the Town of Melton it’s self.

Your other one for William & Mabel 1916………within the Blaby District.
I trawled five Parishes close to Enderby but drew a blank I’m afraid.

So need to widen the net next tine.
