I am trying to find census info on Ann Hutchinson who was born about 1832 in Howden (or Holme) Yorks.
She married Robert Gell in 1870 but she may have been married before to someone named Buckley.
Can anyone help?

john hutchinson age 25.
joseph hutchinson age 14.
david hutchinson age 11.
ann hutchinson age 9.
living at ; holme upon spalding moor,yorkshire.
reg,dist. howden.
living next door is a john hutchinson aged 85 occ. coal merchant and mary hutchinson aged 75
they have various children living with them ages range from 1year to 35 years.

It would appear that John, Joseph, David, and Ann were brothers and sister. The next door neighbours
could have been the grandparents.

I've got Mary Ann Gells birth cert and it states that she was born Jan 31 1871.
The marriage of Robert Gell and Ann Buckley (nee Hutchinson, I'm hoping!) took place
in June 1870. If that's right then Ann was two months pregnant when she married.

not sure about matthew but joseph and david are with the ann i posted in the 1841 census.

here is the eldest hutchinson with ann in 1841
name. john hutchinson
chr. 2nd may 1814.
place. holme upon spalding moor
parents; matthew-ann.

so it looks like anns parents were married before 1814
there are 2 marriages that i can see of a matthew-ann hutchinson
one on 27th april 1813 wifes name ann midgley
place. harewood,yorkshire.
the other one was on 9th may 1814 wifes name ann lamb
marriage took place at st.peters in leeds,yorkshire
i think the first one is more likely
is harewood near holme?

That's interesting. I think either is possible. Leeds and Harewood are equidistant to Holme.
I wonder what happened to both Mathew and Ann since they seem to not be around by 1841?

i just thought that the first one was the more likely because their first born was christened on
2nd may 1814
and the second marriage did'nt take place until 9th may 1814
so if the second one is the one they must have had him christened in one parish and then rushed off and got married in another parish the following week(i suppose it is possible)
if i was a bookie the first marriage would be odds on favourite.
