Hi, Can someone look up a baptism for Susan Eve. I'm not sure where she was born but she married William Pledger in 1768 at Burrough Green. Thanks.
Tempsford.

Linda
I can't see the 3/3/1747 birth that you found. I can see 3/3/1768 and 6/8/1727 baptisms of Susan Eve in Mountnessing, but nothing in 1747. Where exactly on the LDS site did you find it? But Mountnessing is 50 odd miles from Burrough Green so I think it unlikely it's the same Susan, even if there is a 1747 birth.
Martha Pledger was baptised, not born, on 16/9/1770

Other than checking the IGI which you can do yourself, I'm not sure where you expect us to look up Susan's baptism when you don't know her place of birth. Needle and haystack are words that spring to mind.
1747 seems to be about the right birth date though as there's a Susan Pledger age 73 buried in Burrough Green in 1820 ( http://www.cfhs.org.uk/cgi-bin/burialindex.cgi )
The place to start is the marriage entry. Have you checked this to see if a parish of residence is given for Susan?
Burrough Green is only a mile from the county boundary with Suffolk. She may have come from there. I don't know how complete the IGI is for Suffolk baptisms, but it appears that less than a third of the parish registers have been extracted onto the IGI, and there's no Susan Eve on the BVRI either.

Hi all, Thanks for the efforts in looking for Susan Eve. As I had looked on the IGI and found nothing that seemed likely I wondered if anyone had come across her baptism somewhere in Cambridgeshire. I have all the details on Susans marriage and children and burial. I had hoped someone may have come across her in their tree, I appreciate she may not have been born in Cambridgeshire but it was worth a try. On the marriage entry it states that William and Susan were both of Burrough Green.
Thanks, Tempsford.

Hi Linda, I found it just now on family search. It is an entry from a LDS member and just gives the year of Susans birth as 1747 and place as England. Although it does have her marriage to William. I'm wondering if the baptism for a Susannah in 1746 in Gt Waltham may be a possibilty although I know its a long way from Burrough Green but families did travel in those days! There are no other baptisms for a Susan Eve apart from the Essex ones.
Thanks for looking. Tempsford.

That "1747" entry is a member submission and is not worth the paper it's written on! As everyone knows, all women marry at age 21 and men at age 25, so if the baptism isn't obvious (and sometimes even when it is) LDS church members just deduct 21 from the marriage year for a woman to arrive at her birth year.
I think Suffolk is more likely than Essex

Hi Linda and David, On reflection its probably more realistic that Susan may have come from Suffolk. I have family who moved from Kent to Cambridgeshire in 1797. Thanks for your input.
