Hi Dawn,
In response to your post about look ups at the LMA. If you get time, would you be able to do a quick look up for a couple of my relatives.
The first is for a baptism of a Francis Newham, who on the various census as has be quite consitant in listing his birth place as St Martin in Fields in approx 1800. I have no idea who his parent are and would dearly love to be find this info.
The second is a baptism for Francis wife Margaret Wallbanks. Again on the census, she consistantly listed her birth as approx 1800 in All hallows Barking. Again I have no idea who her parents are and would dearly love to be find this info.

Hi Richard

Baptisms for St-Martin-in-the-Fields have been indexed on the IGI and only one Newham result is returned which I checked out for you

From a section in the register after the other baptisms entitled "The following children were baptised in the Workhouse of this parish from the 30th day of April 1798 to the ? day of May 1799"

Franklin Newham of Ann (baptised) 1 Feb 1799 (born) 31 Jan 1799

According to Phillimores Atlas the registers for All Hallows Barking have not been deposited and may still be at the Church if they survived WW2 bombing in 1940.

Thanks for looking Dawn,
I had been advised before that the St Martin in the field entires on the IGI were not complete, but this may have changed recntly.

All hallows does still have a copy of the registers, but they want a fortune to look at them, i think it was something like £40 just to view them in person)

I suppose they have to make up the money for church maintenance somehow, but that is very expensive.

Can't you find someone abroard for you with a foreign email address and ask them to ask for the look-up? Organisations are quite amenable if you can't get there in person because you're abroad or transfer the foreign funds Wink
