I was just checking "New Replies to your Posts" (fab little link) and found this post to which I had added a comment early in the posting http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=28436.msg113033#msg113033
It typifies the fabulous information, chat and "stories outside the BDM dates" that come from so many different people on RootsChat. The facts/stories about why four children were baptised on the same day, together with the research to find the actual birth dates was fascinating reading and yet again provided a thoughtful insight into the lives of our ancestors.
There is no way I have time (despite spending way too many hours online) to read all the posts & I wonder what other gems I have missed about times past.
So yet again many thanks to the creaters, helpers and posters on RootsChat - has to be the friendliest, most informative and useful Genealogy Forum on the net.

I agree with everything you say, Trish!
This is a fabulous group and I could spend hours reading through all the boards, but I would never do anything else if I did that! I do find it frustrating not to know what is going on on EACH board, though!!!

Following on from Falkyrn's post, a correspondant of mine spent a great deal of time and trouble transcribing a census year for a town in which she has lots of interests. After posting details to her website (for the benefit of all), she was approached by the local family history society and asked not to continue and to remove that part posted so far because it was something that they intended to publish at some time in the future.
She did not remove that posted so far but didn't continue with the project which is a great shame. This was a year or two back and, as far as I am aware, the local society still have not published an index.

I was reading a posting on Genes Reunited, or rather a thread relating to one of my names, when I came across a wild rant by a lady who was telling off someone else for posting such trivial rubbbish whilst SHE was trying to use the Board for serious research into that family. I have since seen other quite raving postings there and I fear it has dark corners in which things lurk with too many teeth and limbs. The worst you have to put up with on Rootschat is me
