Sarah was born in lanark in 1904. She married and moved to Dundee, Wallies/Willes Lane. Her mother was Sarah Ann (Kivlochan) Donnelly and her father was Hugh Donnelly. She had a sister Mary born in 1900. As i don't know the name of the person Sarah married i am stuck. The search choice gave about 3 pages of possibles, so i am hoping someone out there might of heard of the names

Have you tried Scotland People website for her marriage, you can just enter her name Sarah Donnelly it comes up with 12 matches between 1920 and 1932 for a Sarah Donnelly marrying in Lanark.

p.s. where did you get the "Wallies/Willes Lane" from? Could it be Wilkies Lane? do you think?.

'Willie's Lane' would be my guess for Sarah's address. I've attached the part for you to see. I think your guess is far better than mine! I don't have a knowledge of Dundee street names.

Hi its Wilkies Lane, someone else was asking just tonight on another website about that Lane. Well the number of times I have been up and down that lane in my life I could never count.

Hi, thank you for getting back to me and suggesting Wallies Lane to be Wilkes Lane. I have since found out 42 Wilkes Lane is St Josephs Church and the Sarah Donnelly i am searching for was resident there in 1926. I have emailed the Church to ask if they had any information of her being a housekeeper or now i am wondering perhaps she may have become a nun, cause i have tried so many marriage searches and found nothing.

Hello Caroline,
If only you had mention St. Josephs RC church before I could have helped more, my parents were married there, the church by the way as you found out is still in Wilkie's Lane.
I am just wondering if Sarah Donnelly worked in the church however?? She may have worked as a housekeeper for the catholic priests, they had their house next to St Josephs Church, this house is also still in Wilkie's Lane and at one time housed several priest. However due to the drop in the amount of young men training to be priests and the fact there is now only one priest at St Josephs I think the house is now used for something else rather than being their home.

Thank you once again, i have viewed the marriage list you kindly sent but unfortunately the parents do not match. Sarah's father died in 1917 and her mother in 1926, both died in Glasgow, so she might of got married in Dundee where she was last listed as living. I will try the marriages in that area, if nothing, i don't know where to go next? i will just have to hope St Josephs will reply and come up with something.
