Hi:
I'm looking for Thomas Stephen (sometimes just known as Stephen) ROSEBERRY in the 1841 census of Sunderland. He was born 1814 in Sunderland, occupation - joiner, with wife Dorothy b 1817. They married in Sunderland in 1838.
If anyone could find them in other census that would be wonderful
I do have them in 1881.
Linda

Yours looks the closest, Barbara, being a joiner b.1814
Strange coincidence of wife's names though.
Mike.

Sorry. Having trouble posting this evening . . . and trying to do too many things at once
Stephen was also a journeyman bricklayer in 1851.
Your Thomas is definitely nearest Linda's original post. I wonder if they were cousins?
Mike.

Arrgh!!!
What I know is Thomas Roseberry joiner, son of Peter Roseberry mason and Mary Small, married Dorothy Lonsdale in 1838 - her father was William, both of full age. This is definitely "my Thomas" - Peter was the brother of my ggg grandfather Thomas.
I have baptisms for parents Stephen and Dorothy Roseberry of Mary Jane 1841, Jane Ann 1843, Mary 1845, Mary 1847, William Stephen 1849 and Harriet Jane August 1851.
The one I found in 1881 matched the one you found in 1891. 1881 shows him as Thomas S. - so I "presumed" him to be Thomas Stephen.
I know Thomas's grandfather was called Matthew - daughter Mary age 6 in 1851 fits with the baptism above, so I'm leaning towards Barbara's find - what do you both think
We have a large family of Roseberry's in the area - all masons or joiner, so they are in all likelihood related.
Many thanks, Linda

I'm looking for Thomas Stephen (sometimes just known as Stephen) ROSEBERRY
When was he just known as Stephen?
I think the Thomas census will be the right ones, do you know any names of his siblings from family information to confirm this?
The Stephen Mike found could be a brother or as he suggested, a cousin
Barbara

Linda, I thought this was familiar, I and others already found this 1841/51 census information for you on this thread 2 weeks ago

Barbara, Mike:
I am deeply sorry and extremely embarrassed! I thought I had found this part of my tree once, but couldn't find any notes and couldn't find it on Rootschat.
Only in the last few days had I found the baptism of Thomas s.o. Peter and that got me going again.
I apologise for the extra/double time and effort you both put forth and will make sure in future I am more thorough with keeping my notes.
I feel extremely foolish! Please forgive me.
Linda
