John Hall Parton/Moresby/Whitehaven
« on: Friday 14 January 05 04:48 GMT (UK) »

In 1851 John Hall born 1815 in Wheelock Cheshire living in Moresby/Parton or Whitehaven in 1851 married to Mary (Wilkinson).  Would have three boys, George William, John and Thomas Straford.  He was a Saddler.

His father also John Hall who was a Excise Officer in that area possibly 66 years old.  His wife might be Jane.

Would appreciate finding these guys then - they moved to Wigan soon after 1851. Smiley

Thank you for the reply and the census report.  I am trying to discover who this John Hall's dad was - it is such a common name - my husband is John Hall too!  Worse than this is the fact this family moved several times during the latter bit of the 18th century and first half or the 19th.  Their stay in Cheshire could have been as brief as their stay in Cumberland.  Before Cheshire they lived in Yorkshire, in Alne, so the family stories go!  There is still family in Wigan but many have dispersed to places such as Australia, South America, Spain and us in the Yukon!

Thank you for your help it is much appreciated!
Frances
PS still would like to know details of the 1851 census for John Hall born in Wheelock Cheshire and probably stilling living in Cumberland, Parton or Moresby.

I don't have the census for 1851 only Durham area.

If you place a new posting you might get lucky.

If you go to the emmigrant board there are some good people there that will look up for you.

It's like a puzzle. Huh  But I love puzzles - I am now talking to two second cousins I didn't know I had!  It's very nice isn't it to find these people.  But it is frustrating at times!
Thanks again
