One of my ancestors is Low McAdam he married Isobel Wilson 29/11/1830 at Mannofield Banchory Aberdeen Scotland,I have been trying for a long time to find Low's grandparents,I have from Scotlands People a copy of the parish record of his birth---- parents Gilbert McAdam & Christian Duguid reg. 10thApril 1803 although his birth is given as 19th March, the witnesses to the entry are Margaret Low & John Robertson I am hoping this may be a link to his grandparents!!! can anyone help please.

Hello Jean,
A quick search of the IGI (www.family search.org.uk), brings up an 'extracted ' marriage entry for Gilbert and Christian on 11 Nov 1792, at Belhelvie, Aberdeen.

Excuse me for being a little bit pedantic but your initial message did not clarify what info you had so was posting the marriage date to avoid others having to search for it. 
I take it you've contacted the other researcher in the USA who is also researching this family and has left their details on the IGI?
Children born to a Gilbert McAdam and Christian Duguid - Scotlandwide - from the IGI only between 1785 and 1825 are:
1. ELSPET MCADAM Ch: 21 JAN 1793 Belhelvie, Aberdeen, Scotland
2. THOMAS MCADAM Ch: 06 OCT 1795 Inverurie, Aberdeen, Scotland
3. GILBERT MCADAM Birth: 20 FEB 1797 Ch: 04 MAR 1797 Inverurie, Aberdeen, Scotland
4. LOW MCADAM Birth: 19 MAR 1803 Ch: 02 APR 1803 Inverurie, Aberdeen, Scotland
5. WILLIAM MCADAM Birth: 28 OCT 1800, Ch: 05 NOV 1800 Inverurie, Aberdeen, Scotland
Cannot find Gilbert or Christian on the 1841 census at www.freecen.org.uk
Cannot find a Gilbert Mac/McAdam birth on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk between 1740 to 1775

Hi, Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. I have been in touch with a few people who are also researching my family,the only one who has never replied is a Tana Murray maybe her address has changed!We all seem to have drawn a blank where Gilbert McAdam's birth & parents are concerned,we know where he married & where he died.Gilbert was also married to a Jane Arnot I think Jane was his first wife. I had hoped that the wording on Low McAdam's birth/baptism record may have been the break through I had been looking for but maybe not,I just thought that as one of the witnesses listed on the record had the surname Low this might have been a link to his grandmother,Gilbert's mother.

Have you checked the birth/baptism entries of the other children of Gilbert to see if they have any witnesses?
Have you found death records/ burials for any of the family? Sometimes headstones give extra clues.
