Hello.
I have searched for my gggmother | ISABELLA MARTHA WRIGHT Kemp | previously to little success re determining her point of origin.
Working on her birthyear as being 1810 i found her parents may have been
SARAH BELCHER & GEORGE WRIGHT.
I believe is near Reading, which is the town she cited as being her birthplace in the censuses when married to Henry Kemp in the first half of the 19th c.
Sarah Belcher Wright's mother was a Martha Winterbourne who had married a Thomas Belcher. Might there be generational links here?
Finally Isabella Martha Wright Kemp died sometime between 1841-1858: Henry Kemp remarried in 1858. I have full branches from then on. I have searched the BMD and have bought some dud death certs for Isabella Martha Wright Kemp. Could anyone help me out here please?!
Isabella Martha and Henry Kemp had 3 children: Henry jr, Isabella Jr and George. Henry and Isabella lived into the 20th c; George my ggrandfather died in 1893.
Will someone pull a hat-trick please! Kind regards, Julie

Hi Julie
Denchworth is about 30 miles from Reading, near Wantage in Oxfordshire. I really doubt whether anyone born there would claim Reading as their birthplace.
What makes you think Denchworth is a possibility for Isabella's birth? Can you give us some more information please? What census records do you have, and where were the family? As you have a birthplace for Isabella it suggests you have her on the 1851 census, but then you say she died between 1841 and 1858. I'm confused!
Anne

Hello Ann,
Thanks. Yes i see where i got confused.
ISABELLA MARTHA WRIGHT KEMP did appear on the 1851 census with her family in London: 9 Crescent Mews North, Marylebone, St Pancras. Hb: Henry Kemp snr; and the 3 children.
Maybe Isabella Martha is older. I know that Henry often gave his age as up to 10 years younger and he was born in 1799 and d in 1887. So Isabella may even have been older than him as so many i've found have been. As mentioned below she is one year older than him.
This census gives her age as 48: thus b.y. would be 1803. But i have found in my searches variations and found that the Isabella Wright b 1810 with parents George and Sarah the most likely for her. Wiltshire RO found no mention of her in the immediate Reading area of parishes. It is all rather tenuous but i decided to act on what might be in order to get somewhere!
When i looked for Denchworth i did find yours but then found another linked to Reading so i thought that was it. Also if Sarah is her mother Sarah's own mother was a Martha and they all came from Denchworth.
| Isabella Martha Kemp (nee Wright) | is such an usual string i have found albeit i haven't found much beyond what has been on the censuses and the Pallot's marriage index record of her marriage to Henry Kemp and their Baptismal entry for their firstborn, Henry jr in 1836.
So again Isabella Martha appears to have died between 1851=1858.
Can you help further Ann?! Kindly yours Julie

Hi Julie
I'm not aware of another Denchworth near Reading (I live there), but I'm happy for someone to tell me I'm wrong! I think the Denchworth near Wantage will be the one you have found the records for. It used to be in Berkshire, but is now in Oxfordshire.
If your Isabella was born in Reading you may not find her on the IGI. There are three parishes actually in Reading, St Mary, St Giles, and St Laurence. The first two are on the IGI but St Laurence is not. Have you tried Berkshire record office? I would offer to do a look up for you but I'm not likely to get there again for a while - maybe someone else can help if you post a request in the Berkshire look ups.
Having had a quick google it appears there is a connection between Denchworth and Purley near Reading - the Hyde family had estates in both places. I think you need to exclude Reading St Laurence though.

THANKS Anne for your suggestions and info.
I did have some research done via the Berkshire RO and they didn't find anything conclusive. Right now i'm just wanting to acknowledge your last post; i'm off to bed now but want to let you know i will get back on board re active Isabella digging. I will revisit the material the BRO sent me.
Kind regards, Julie.
