Hi all, and I am sorry about this. Someone has reminded me that I offered to do a cemetery lookup when the weather gets better, but I don't remember for whom it was. If the requestor is out there, could you refresh my memory? It would be for Madison County, New York, I think, or maybe somewhere in central NY that is close to where I live. I feel bad but am drawing a blank. Happy to do any of these lookups for you, though. It's been a long long winter.

Hi, It wasn't me, however are you anywhere near St Micheals Cemetery Manhatten. Would love to know if there is a marker or stone on the grave of George Warner died 3rd July 1913 age 78 and Catherine [Katie] Warner his wife buried 27th April 1914. age 81 In St Micheals. Not sure if they are buried together. Lookup would be greatly appreciated. Gales

Hi Gales, You might try the below site. Also, check out the forums by state for a local look-up. I believe you have to register on the site to post on a forum but it is free.

Hello LissaM, Thank you for your reply. They are not listed on that site, however I have their death certificates which confirm where they were buried. I was hoping someone lived near the cemetery and could have a look if there was a stone with an inscription. I have mailed a couple of names on RAOK that say they cover St Micheals but never had a reply. I think they stop doing it but don't take their names off the lists. Hopefully something will turn up. Thanks again gales

Go to "Discussion Forums" (bottom right of the Home Page) You will be taken to a new page. Half way down "Genealogy & Cemetery Research" is a list of States Go to "New York" Last entry on Page 1 says "Anyone going to St. Michaels?" E. Elmhurst which is off the Brooklyn Queens Expressway in Queens (not Manhattan)
Might be best to post your own new request for assistance.

Oh my word. You had said Manhattan, so I didn't make a connection, but St. Michael's in Queens is where one set of my gg grandparents is buried. I was there in 1993. What a small world.
I would definitely follow Lissa's advice and post a request. I'd also post a separate post on here for a request. There are a couple Rootschatters in that specific area and if they see the request, maybe they will be able to go for you. Put the name and location of the cemetery in the subject line, so they know they might be able to help.

Lissa and Kath, Appreciate your help. Lissa will try what you suggested. Kath, Sorry about the mistake, yes it is in Queens, its just that they lived in Manhatten. Anythings worth a try. I found it easy getting details and photos from Mt Hope in Rochester, they are really helpful there. If its any interest to anyone. Thanks Again Gales

Gales,
No, that's ok, I just thought the coincidence was funny. Such a small world.

Kath, What was St Michaels Cemetery like ? Lots of the older ones in the US are neglected. Some of my relatives were moved from the Wagner Cemetery into Sand Hill Canadagaigua Ontario, other into Falls Cemetery Greece. Monroe. Oddly they named them as the Wagner sections. Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester is Lovely. Gales

It was pretty well kept when I was there. It's a fairly large cemetery and it was in a relatively residential area, at least the side I was on. And not to insanely packed, like the Lutheran cemeteries in Queens I've been to.
