I had to visit the Ellon area for a funeral earlier last week and had hoped to get some photos of where my granny lived in Belhelvie. We did manage to visit the area but it was blowing a gale and the snow was horizontal causing drifting. As it is some time before I can return I wondered if someone knowing the area could take a photo of 7 Scott Terrace, Belhelvie.
I also have an address of Waterslacks, Belhelvie. Can anybody tell me if this might have been a farm back in the early 1900s.
We managed to get a photo of my granny and granddad's grave which is in Belhelvie Kirkyard. Since coming home I have found that a gr. uncle died in 1918 and his name is on the war memorial there. I was lucky enough to find a photo of that on the internet.
If anyone has access to the burials in Belhelvie Kirkyard could you look to see if there is more than one stone for Barron.
Thanks
Betty

Hi Jim
Thanks for your reply.
It is the new graveyard I am interested in. The surname is Barron. Particularly John McPherson Barron who died on 29th January 1931 and his wife Williamina Davidson who died 15th May 1947. If there are any Barrons other than my grandparents John Barron who died 1964 and Maggie Jane Ross who died 1982 it would be great if you could take a photo as there are a few branches leading off from my direct line.
Sorry I made a typo with the name. It should be Wateryslacks. It was extracted from the death extract on Scotland's People for John McPherson Barron who died in 1931. Also from 1918 for the Alexander Barron who is on the War Memorial.
Thanks for your time.
Betty

Hi Jim
No Worries.
The weather conditions are certainly not good for walking around cemeteries.
Look forward to hearing from you once the weather heats up a bit.

Hi Betty,
A bit of good news, but also a bit of not so good news I'm afraid . . .
I was round the Belhelvie area today and went looking for Scott Terrace. It's not signposted, but I checked on streetmap before I went, so I think I found the right place - On the main road, is that correct? Anyway, I took a photo of No 7 which I can send you.
I then went round the graveyard, and found your Granny and Granddad's grave. I took a photo of the stone, as it is possibly better than the one you have if it was blowing a blizzard when you were there!
I've also taken a couple of shots of the war memorial for you.
Now for the not so good news. I went round the graveyard twice, but couldn't find a stone for John Barron/Williamina Davidson. Perhaps there isn't a stone, although they are burried there. I havn't had any luck with Wateryslacks either I'm afraid. I've looked on my own modern maps, and also tried old ordenance survey maps back to mid 1800's but no luck. I've also tried Streetmap, Multimap & postcode lookup without success. The nearest match was a place in King Edward near Banff, but that can't be right.
There is only one other grave for Barron that I could find. it's a Ian Innes Barron and ahis wife Jeannie Geddes Anderson. I'm not sure if this is in your tree or not, but I can send you a picture just in case.
If you send me a PM with your email address, (keeps the spammers at bay), I'll send you the photos.
Cheers Jim
