Another brother b1915 may have married in 1937 Are there any living relatives Any photos of Empress Road c 1926 or later Can anybody confirm the tragic death of Kathleen (Miles) Hutchison in being accidentally shot in about 1926 regards Steve
Moderator comment: some names removed in case any persons still living. With events under 100 years ago, please be careful about what you post - particularly the level of detail. Thank you.

Steve,
I am not familiar with the area, so these are my general suggestions. Perhaps someone else will chime in.
A good place to start would be to obtain a copy of Kathleen (Miles) Hutchison's death record.
I couldn't find her death in the index at FreeBMD: http://www.freebmd.org.uk/
Do you have access to the complete Birth, Marriage and Death indexes at Ancestry (or elsewhere)? You might have to search year by year to find her death if it hasn't yet been indexed.
Once you have the exact date and location of death (from the death record), you could write to the local library and ask them to search for the obit. Sometimes a library will do it for free and sometimes there is a small fee.
If you know the name of the brother who died about 2004, you could do the same. His death record and obit might give you vital clues.
I see that FreeBMD has the marriage for William James Austin and Katie Miles in S. Stoneham in October - December 1906. If you order that record, perhaps the names of the witnesses might give you a clue regarding other relatives.
Did Katie/Kathleen (Miles) Austin marry someone named Hutchison between 1906-1926? Again, that marriage record might provide clues.
I see the son's birth in 1915 in Winchester registration district. It looks like there's another birth in 1920 in Alresford registration district (all on FreeBMD.)
If you order these other birth records, they should tell you where the family was living at the times of the births.
The same is true for a second marriage for Katie/Kathleen (Miles) Austin (if there was one).
You could then write to the local library and ask for look-ups in the city directories. You could do the same for the other siblings starting around when they would have been about 20 years old, especially if you order their marriage records and get their occupations (for males).
Listing of Southampton libraries: http://www.southampton.gov.uk/libraries/azofservices.asp
They've got some city directories online for free: http://www.plimsoll.org/southampton/streetdirectories/default.asp
Have you checked the directories at the Historical Directories website: http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/index.asp
Once you know where people were living and where they died (with exact dates), not only can you (hopefully) find their obits, but you can write a query letter to the local newspaper(s) (with your contact info) and ask them to publish it. You can also write to the local cemeteries and ask for burial information, including the names of the owners of the plots (these people might still be living). You can also write to the local funeral homes and ask what they have on file.
Regards, Josephine
