I have put my pages up at geocities for a temporary solution and added the link to my sig. Now it's not being a traitor to go somewhere else, and I am sorry that the server is taking longer than originally planned to be repaired, but we need to face facts.
Probably the best way to get the job done is to have a professional person look at the server, and therefore if rootschat webpages space needs to change to a paid service to pay for the service, then thats what we need to so. The forums could still stay free.
It's been 5 months now, and we do need some closure.
Trystan, I am open to paying a small amount for my webspace if it will help.

There is only so many times a girl can take being ignored.

Very sad, Kerry, but I'm glad that you have joined the club
I felt like the proverbial rat leaving the sinking ship but I felt I owed it to my friends and family to put my site up again somewhere. i've had about 300 hits since Thursday.

I know what you mean Gadget, I sent an email to friends and family this morning and I've had 59 hits today!
Fior me the website is part and parcel of the genealogy experience and I'm only working on half power without it!
Now to add more pages, dare I mention the Traies......

One thing that I would like to query, is what is the state of the file that were uploaded to the Rootschat server?

I'd like to know that also, because it will have to be deleted now it exists in another place. But will we ever be able to get at it to delete it?

I am in the dark about the future of the RC webspace, but should it be decided that it is no longer sustainable, can we please keep this sub-board, refocused to "building and maintaining family history websites" or similar?
There's so much excellent information on this board which is invaluable reference material. Also the networking among those building sites has been an immense help.
Ideally of course, I'd like the RC space back, but just preparing for the worst

I second that, Julian
I certainly wouldn't have been able to design mine and get it up and running without all the 'how to do it' threads and the help and support I received when I was new to web design.

I third it!
Not only are there invaluable help and how tos on the board, some of the debates and discussions have widen my knowledge of websites hugely. Just thinking about screen resolution and busy backgrounds etc has been a massive help.
