My wife and I will be in Kippen the first week of May to research my Blair line which we have traced back to Kippen.
My earlist known Blair is John Blair, b. Mar 27, 1720 in Kippen, Stirlingshire, Scotland, d. Dec 1799 in Bucklyvie (Kippen), Stirlingshire, Scotland. John married Margaret b. Mar 20, 1720 in Kippen, Stirlingshire, Scotland, d. Dec 1799 in Bucklyvie (Kippen), Stirlingshire, Scotland.
John and Margaret had at least 7 children listed as born in Kippen. These were:
John b. Feb 11,1750
Robert b. Jul 1754
James b. Jun 01, 1759
Joseph b. May 21, 1761
Peter b. Apr 02, 1763
Janet b. Nov 11, 1764
Alexander b. Unknown
Robert married Margaret McLuckie and they came to Barnet Vermont in 1785. We have letters written between 1786 and 1816 from Robert's father John, his brothers' Joseph and Peter, his sister Janet, Margaret's brother Robert, and other family friends to Robert and Margaret in Barnet VT which discuss all the above line. John's letters came from Arnmore.
Based on these letters and OPRs we believe (but have no real hard evidence) that John Blair was the son of Donald Blair b. abt 1698 in Kippen, Stirlingshire, Scotland and Janet McAdam b. abt 1700. They were married Apr 28, 1719 in Port of Monteith, Perth, Scotland.
I am hoping someone here may be connected to or have some information on this line of Blairs or the place Arnmore. In the 1881, 1891, and 1901 censuses there are Blairs back at Arnmore.
I would also appreciate any information on the best way and places to go to in conducting our research around Kippen.

Hi again
I have just checked my tree and we may in fact have a very distant link! My 5xgreat gran was Isabella King, born Buchlyvie in 1763. Her father was Alexander King b1739 in the same area, and her mother was Margaret Blair.
Alexanders father was John King and his mother was Agnes Blair - so I guess my 6x and 7x grandmothers were both Blairs! I havent done any research on these names yet.

I took a look at my Blair line but couldn't find anything that looked like a connection, but I've so many loose ends back there that we could be connected.
