I would be extremely grateful, if anyone is going to the record office at Matlock, if they could look at two marriages for me to see what the brides' father's name is. The marriages are of two sisters.
Sarah Arnfield & Andrew Shaw, Quarter 3 1864, Hayfield. Married at Glossop Shrewsbury Street Methodist Chapel.
Mary Ann Arnfield (may be Armfield) & Edward Beard, Quarter 1 1854, Hayfield. Married at Glossop St James.
I know who the father should be, but I just want to check as I now know that their elder brother had a different father, and their younger sister had no father on her birth certificate.
The grooms' father's names would be handy too, although I don't expect there is one for Andrew Shaw (would be nice if there was )
Many thanks in advance
Diane

It may be of interest that there were Arnefields in Glossop much earlier

Hi David
Yes, I know there are lots of Arnfields in the district and once I can sort out these girls' father (who should be Benjamin) and I can find his parents, i should be able to go back. I actually think my Arnfields came from Mellor, but there are definitely two Benjamins that could be mine, plus others earlier and later. I am sure they must all be related somehow, but I cannot find anything. My problem is that I have recently discovered his wife, Hannah, had been married before and therefore the eldest child is not his, and the youngest girl does not have a father's name on her birth certificate. I now want to find out if Sarah and Mary Ann had Benjamin Arnfield as a father. If not, I'm stuck .
