Leah Townshend or Leah Townsend
« on: Friday 14 January 05 14:30 UTC (UK) »

Leah was born on the 24th May 1856. Daughter of John TOWNSHEND (or TOWNSEND) and Emma BATTY (or BATTE).  The address at that time was Mathew Street, Wolverhampton.

After John died Emma married John HUMPREYS (later to become HUMPHRIES).  In the 1861 census Leah is Leah Townsend HUMPHRIES.

Does anyone know what happened to this young girl, please?

Hi Willow,  Cool

Leah should be 5 years old.  They should be in Bilston.  Engine Lane or John Street from certificates.

I assume the head of household will be John HUMPHREYS or HUMPHRIES from Meifod, Montgomeryshire, Wales.

Any chance of the image if you can find it.

Cheers

Hi Mike,
Don't mean to barge in but I think I have found your Leah.

On the 1871 census
Dukinfield, Lancashire
Alfred Hampson Household
Leah Townsend   Serv.  16          Woverhampton Staffordshire
RG10/4082  Folio 120  Page 24

No sign of a marriage but I did find this death Cry

March Q 1878   Leah Townsend, age 21.  Manchester  8d-221

Hope this helps,

No Problems and thank You.  This is new info.  This fits -her "step-family" where in Manchester in 1881.

Could you let me have an image of the 1871, please.

Cheers

Hi Mike,

I haven't figured out how to attach the census image to a Rootschat private email...I think it's because I use Netscape instead of IE.

If you send me a private email (see profile) with your actual email address, I will be happy to send it to you.

Hope you know what I'm talking about...LOL

Cheers,
