I don't know if I am allowed to post a link so I will just post the data. Sorry if I have done it wrong.
1861: Class: RG9; Piece: 991; Folio: 112; Page: 34
I am trying to find out if the man Joseph Thompson was a traveller or not. On a later census he is just a chimney sweep but here he is a sweep AND a lodging house keeper - I don't know what this job suggests. His son married into my family but I wanted to know if he was a traveller as well. I have seen many lodging house keepers in my search for my ancestors but I have always assumed that they weren't travellers, my travelling ancestors were always just living in the same house as them. Or was one of the lodgers in the house appointed a keeper of the house and charged with looking over the place...I am very confused.
Sorry for wittering.

Some folkis settled, and when doing so, some of them opened Lodging Houses to help out their folkis...... with a chimney sweep and a lodging house keeper in there, I wouldnt rule it out. Havent come across that family myself mind you.
Best of Luck.

Ah I see, might have been then. Thank you. Later on though he only refers to himself as a chimney sweep so had he given up the lodging house business...?

I suppose so although I can't imagine sweeping chimneys was going to make him a millionaire.
