1841 Census - Thomas, May and Daniel LUCK
« on: Monday 31 March 08 19:18 BST (UK) »

Good evening,

Could someone find Thomas 1783 Gt Munden in 1841. Thomas would have been a widower aged abt 57. In 1851/61 and 1871 he was living with his daughter Mary Faulkner and her hubby Daniel in South Mimms.

Daniel 1821 Hitchin  is not mentioned with the family in  the 1851 census but back with Mary and Thomas in 1861 but wondered if he had been left off the census unless he can be found else where.

Can Mary be found in 1881, in 1891 she is aged 74 and living at the Almshouse in South Mimms. It looks as if she lived her whole life in South Mimms.

Any help appreciated     Margaret

Good morning,

Were you able to look for Thomas Luck in 1841 or Danial Faulkner in 1851 and Mary his widow in 1881.

Thankyou   Margaret

Good morning Yonderpeasant,

Thankyou for your interest. I will take a look. Wonder who the Thomas was if they are mine. Thomas Snr was married to Sarah and haven't found her death yet, or maybe Mary's illegitimate son?

Hi Margaret,

The Hertfordshire  Burial Index records the burial of a Sarah LUCK age 58 on 10Jun1838 at St.John's Church, Potters Bar .   (This would be nearer to GANWICK CORNER than South Mimms).   Could be your gal.

Regards   ...   Peter

Hi Margaret,

The Potters Bar, St.Johns, parish register confirms the burial of Sarah LUCK and gives the additional info that she lived at Gannick Corner.  I found a second LUCK burial on 03Nov1844 - John LUCK of Bentley Heath age30. (Bentley Heath and Ganwick Corner asctually join) .
Had no luck with a baptism for Thomas LUCK (c1838) at Potters Bar but during my search I found 06May1838 George s/o John and Elizabeth LUCK of Gannick Corner, labourer (born 06Apr1838) and 27Sep1940 John s/o John and Elizabeth LUCK  of Bentley Heath labourer (born 01Sep1840)

Regards   ...   Peter
