Hi there, out of courtesy for the agro I caused you I thought it proper to come back with relevant information reference to Bertie Baker.

Out of interest to you I have since learnt the maiden name of his wife was Bertha Silena Barnfield so the entry you located and posted 01/04/08 is the right one.

Regards
Roy

No aggro caused at all Roy !

I was a bit worried that I might have made a quantum leap by assuming that particular Regn District, but at least as far back as that it looks good - just need to reveal his Fathers name to prove the family found back to 1881 is correct.

Hi
I made contact with a lady from Malvern yesterday evening who is researching the Baker family history, but unfortunately no concrete info to help.  It would seem the old man Baker [ Bertie George] moved around a bit.  At one time he was employed as a groom by a farmer by the name of Unwins, in Lower Swell, Longdon.  From there he went to Eastnor Castle, nr Ledbury as groom and it was there he met his future wife, who was headmaid.  The couple then moved on to Pucklechurch, Bristol where young Bertie was born.

I am afraid a lot of useless info without dates and the wife's name but thought it would be of interest.

Best regards
Roy

Interesting, it does seem odd that a Carpenter in 1901 would change to a Groom in the following years - but then again his Dad was a coachman.

only 1 way to prove it ! ...........    Wink
