I am hoping someone can find this marriage for me;
James Belcher marriage to Rachel Matthews. The info I have been given says they were
married on 11 Jan 1784 in West Hanney. However I have looked thru the Hanney transcripts (fiche)
and I am unable to find them there. I have also looked thru a number of neighboring parishes and still
cannot trace this entry. The I.G.I. hasn't yielded any results either.
Rachel is supposed to have died in 1789 in West Hanney at the age of 28 - again there is record of
her burial in Hanney. I have found a James Belcher marrying an Elizabeth Angel in 1792 in Hanney
and regard her as his 2nd wife.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi Jill,
The info on James Belcher's burial is very interesting as it ties in with
my records so to does your info on Rachel's burial in 1788.
Its looking more than likely that it is Pusey and not West Hanney as the parish.
As you have a burial index -do you also have any other transcripts for Pusey please?
If not, I might ask the question on R/C and if there is no luck, will consider buying the CD from the OFHS. The Berks FHS does not appear to have marriage index which covers Pusey nor also registers for this parish.

Have the Pusey PRs.
Rachel's burial was 31 Mar 1788/89.
The infant Susannah and Rachel do not belong to James and Rachel, being daughters of Henry and Mary BELCHER. Mary was buried Feb 13 1791, as wife of Henry. Henry buried Jun 8 1802.
Susannah bapt Sept 3 1786
William bapt Dec 25 1787
Rachel bapt Nov 15 1789
No children to James at Pusey.
No BELCHER marriages at Pusey either.
Henry BELCHER married Mary BEENHAM, Nov 29 1783, at Charney Bassett.

Hello Eyesee,
Very grateful to you for looking thru the Pusey registers.
I thought I might have been onto something useful but its not to be.
It seems strange that the info I was given with firm dates listed West Hanney
as the parish but I have the fiche for this location and there is no record I can see
of their marriage..
Will have to search around some more.
