Bunns
« on: Tuesday 01 April 08 15:19 BST (UK) »

hi
Anyone out there looking for Bunns. Particularly William H (prob Henry cos I think I found parents). He was born in Peldon, Colchester, Essex around 1811. The first census I can find for him is in Wrexham, Denbighshire in 1861. He married an Emma (born in Southampton around 1825) and looks like had his first 2 children in Limerick 1852 & 3. the rest were born in Wrexham (was he married before?) and why would he have gone to Ireland when everyone else was leaving. Anyone researching Bunns from Peldon know anything. Either the surname for Emma, marriage date or anything really. Thanks

Hi

Quote
Either the surname for Emma,

The youngest 4 children on the 1861 were all b Wrexham.  A copy of any one of their birth certs will show Emma's maiden name which may help in finding their marriage

Have you checked freebmd for a marriage/birth of children?

Hi,

Do you think he could have served in the Army and gone to Ireland on tour?

I found this,

http://www.rootschat.com/links/034f/

I think Abberton is about a mile from Peldon.

If he was discharged aged 42 that would be about 1853, the approx dob of the last child born in Ireland.

Hi Daisy
Thanks for info. The dates seem to fit dont they. I know next to nothing about all things military though; Would he have been allowed to marry at that time and have his wife with him in Ireland. I am looking at mo if that regiment was anywhere near Limerick. If I ordered the record what sort of info is normally contained on it?

Hi Elaine,

Sorry, I don't know what info would be on this record, but this may help,

http://www.rootschat.com/links/05v/

You could ask for more info on the Armed Forces Board, I'm sure someone there will be able to help Smiley

If you link it to this post they will be able to see what has already been found Smiley

I have seen soldiers/ex soldiers with children born in Ireland before, also soldiers marrying in Ireland.

I think as CaroleW  suggests a birth certificate for one of the Wrexham born children would be a good idea Smiley
