two Glins in Limerick?
« on: Tuesday 01 April 08 19:14 UTC (UK) »

Hello Everyone,

I was under the impression that there was only one Glin located in Kilfergus parish home of the famous Knights of Glin....but now I have learned that there was one other Glin, still in Limerick, but that the name has changed. Does anyone know of this Glin and where it may be located?

I have found Glin North and South in Kerry...but that does not seem likely. I found a Glen in Grean Civil Parish in Limerick and a Glen in Cahernarry CP also in County Limerick.

I also found an area in Ballyneety, Clanwilliam Barony called lands of Glyn.

The reason I ask is because my 3x great grandfather John Kearney was born in 1806 in Glynn, Limerick. I found this information from his declaration of citizenship from 1847 in Portland Maine, USA.

I always thought he was from Glin, Kilfergus, Limerick...any help welcomed.

Regards, Liz, Yarmouth Maine

There are several possibilites. See www.seanruad.com and search for townlands beginning with 'gl' (be sure to change default search setting from exact match).

Hi,

Thank you. I had already been to  www.seanruad.com, but did not think to search just  "Gl" . There are many possibilities.

Appreciate your help.

Also have a ggggf Edmund Mullins b1807, His wife Bridget Kennedy and son John all born in Glin.
I also assume the Glin on Shannon River but have found little info there.
Although they probaly lived there at least20-30 years.
