Hi Ann,

Have you checked the IGI for more children? There's a few more than you thought!

Francis, bapt. 10th May 1847 Glencorse
Mary, bapt. 6th July 1849 Glencorse
John, born 13th December and bapt. 22nd December 1851 Colinton
William, born 19th December 1853 and bapt. 26th January 1854 Kilmelford
George, born 27th September 1855 Kilmelford
Agnes, born 20th October 1857 Kilmelford
Alexander, born 24th April 1859 Kilmelford
Elizabeth, born 1st July 1861 Kilmelford
Alison, born 25th July 1863 Glencorse
Robert, born 8th August 1865 Glencorse

There's only one birth showing around 1829 for a George Benson. Going by the names of George's children, this looks like him.

George Benson, bapt. 30th June 1829 Glencorse, Midlothian - parents Francis Benson and Agnes Bishop

This matches up well with the location of the marriage to Elizabeth Gill.

George Benson to Elisabeth Gill, mar. 15th May 1847 Glencorse, Midlothian

By the way, Lasswade falls under Midlothian, not East Lothian. Smiley

Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying to my message, what I really would like to find out more information of the family that were born in Argyll. I have all of the childrens names and most of their DOB and DOD also I have found some of their marriages. I have been researching the Benson side for a number of years and I do know that Lasswade comes under Midlothian.

Hello again,

I may be reading your message incorrectly (apologies if I have!), but if you have all of their dates of births and dates of deaths, what other information are you requiring? Are you looking for descendants of the Benson family? I don't think this is clear from your original post. Smiley

What I am trying to find out is why they moved from Argyllshire to Midlothian, and what there occupations were.
