See your pm email ! Suggest you delete your email address from RC boards.

Was your William CLARE the CLARE of CLARE'S Weekly ?

If so my grandfather may have pened a few columns in the period 1900 to 1902 period on Fremantle Football matters whilst playing Australian Rules football with East Fremantle in 1900 & 1901.

I have only been told of this and do have copies of several articles from Clare's Weekly that were written about my grandfather not by him.

Hi Kimberley
I don't know about Clare's Weekly, he started one of the first newspapers on the Goldfields "The Coolgardie Miner" and later had a Printing Business in Perth.
I have found WW1 records for two of his Sons. One died in Hamel, France but the other one survived.  I shall have a search around for the Clare Weekly Mag and see what I find.  You may find the picture attached interesting.

Note record of Clarence Malcolm CLARE on NAA WW1 records & death of Alfred CLARE 10th March 1957 aged 66...was there a Frank (Francis) CLARE who served in WW! ?

Lavinia CLARE is recorded on headstone at Karrakatta with William Edward CLARE and Alfred CLARE died 10 March 1957 aged 66.

You have distracted me now ! I can't think of the name my grandfather allegedly subscribed to CLARE'S WEEKLY as circa 1900/1901/02 !

I noted that one of your replies as about service records in Australian Army. I had 2 great uncles who must have gone out to seek their fortune ,joined the Australian Army for 1914-1918. One died at Passchendale and the other went back to Oz. I have found pages of their war records on the Australian Records site---easy to read and no problem to find. Even gave info about the family they left back in England.

Jackeroo  recently another Perth 'chatter kindly photographed headstones in the Karrakatta Cemetery for me and it is extremely helpful to supply the grave locations.

If you search on the following website you will find the grave locations for each of your relatives.  Some areas of the cemetery have been part of a renewal programme and the headstones have been removed and used for landscaping materials.

http://www.mcb.wa.gov.au/NameSearch/search.php

Just click onto the name of your relative and the grave location will be displayed.

Good luck
