Hi Beckey, Thank you so much for those M.Is. I am sure some of them are mine, will have to get out the paperwork again. Just maybe a coincidence but I also have Lockie and Kerr in my tree, again from the borders (Kelso). Jane Clazy was Jane Kerr Ross, her grandmother was Jane Kerr who married a Mathewson. Her Mother Isabella had a sister who married into the Lockie family. Small world.
Regards Anne.

Hello Beckey
Looking for a Henry Richardson Lawrie, born in Yetholm in 1811, died in Eckford in 1894. Can't find his burial - there is a stone somewhere - but where?
Thank you. Regards, Steve :O)

I found your post, by way of a Google search. I noticed that in this post there was a reference to a cabinetmaker, (James REDPATH [Cabinet Maker] born in 1845 in Kelso, Roxburgh, Scotland.)
Do you know much (anything) regarding his employ? My Great Grandfather (David Guthrie Clow 1835-1906) was a cabinetmaker, in Kelso/ Roxburgh as was one of my 'great uncles' (his son Christopher 1874-1928).
Wondering if they worked together in some way or another. David Clow would be James Redpath's senior by 10 years. employee maybe.
I do know that Christopher 'took over' the family business in 1906, so I would guess David Clow was a proprietor
As an aside, I changed my career to cabinetry in my mid- 40's, without realizing it was a family trade until I began sending photos of my work to family in South Africa. (our family historian is there, as her father married a South African following WWII.)
Nature vs. Nurture? ... My father was a marine....
Anyway, just though I'd through it out there.

Hi dwclow I'm afraid that I have no way of telling whether James Redpath was apprenticed to your ancestor. In the 1861 Census James was home with the family of Redpaths at 8 Mile Way Kelso aged 16 and is listed as Cabinet Maker (Apprentice). By 1871 James is in Milton, Glasgow. Cheers, DDJJAKE
