Nicholas and Mary R Oates: 1871.
« on: Thursday 03 April 08 11:30 BST (UK) »

Up to 1861 I have the family of Nicholas Oates (c1813, St Erme, Cornwall); Mary Renfree Oates (c1815, Budock, Cornwall) and Randolf W Oates (c1855, St Mawes Cornwall).

Then I lose them Huh (I'm using "Ancestry"). Mary, at least, didn't die until 1893.

There is an indication on "Genes Reunited" that a Nicholas Oates (b1813) was in the 1871 census living in Sussex. But I can't find a trace Huh

Anybody help?

Later - found them in 1891 as "Pates"

re the Newhaven entry if you contact  Petmas on here (PM him!) he may have some pictures of Wallace House as he 'runs' the Newhaven museum
i don't think Wallace House still stands today unless its been renamed
