Up to 1861 I have the family of Nicholas Oates (c1813, St Erme, Cornwall); Mary Renfree Oates (c1815, Budock, Cornwall) and Randolf W Oates (c1855, St Mawes Cornwall).
Then I lose them (I'm using "Ancestry"). Mary, at least, didn't die until 1893.
There is an indication on "Genes Reunited" that a Nicholas Oates (b1813) was in the 1871 census living in Sussex. But I can't find a trace
Anybody help?
Later - found them in 1891 as "Pates"
