1911 Canadian census HELP please

somebody kindly gave me the link to this but I am not sure how to read it
Could somebody tell me if the occupation is on there too, and their address, and if possible where Daniel was born Huh
I am looking for Daniel Bremner born 1880 with his wife Rose born 1888 and daughter Rose aged 8 months
living in St Antoine Montreal
if not is there any way to find out his occupation thanks very much

Daniel was a "lumberman" and was listed as a Scot and a Presbyterian.  Rose also appears to have an occupation listed, but it is unreadable.  She is listed as English and Anglican.

He b. Quebec and she England, arriving 1900.

It appears the census taker was French as he spelled Daniel's birth month "Mars", and Rose's "Mai".  And head of household as "chez".

I presume you found him in the transcribed list... once you do this you click "split view" at the top of the listing and it will show you the actual census page.

thank you very much Nick that rules out the family story he was  either a Doctor or Teacher of language unless he changed trades

The 1911 census images are PDF files - do you have Adobe Acrobat Reader or another PDF reader on your computer?

If you have a problem with 'split view', try:
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/archivianet/1911/006003-100.02-e.html
 - put in district number, 180, sub-district number, 5. You should get one result
 - click 'show associated images'
 - you should be given a list of images in your choice of PDF or MRSID format. You want page 6.

Whatever Rose's occupation is, I think it's repeated several times on the page next to various women - might be 'aucun'? (i.e. 'no occupation').

You are correct. The wife wasn't employed. That is exactly what it means. In English, they would write "None" or "Unemployed" etc., (Some parts of Quebec they wrote "Pas")

If you look to the column to the right, you will see initials only where the person is not working. This is the same across Canada.

oh thank you so much Janice much easier ,
you could not tell me how to find Daisy Muller born 1890 england also went to Ontario she is on the 1900 census living in Durham East County head of the house is thomas Hutchinson looks like born 1854 she is down as a domestic, but dont know where she is on the 1911 census maybe married Huh?

hello again Janice , thaks very much but I dont think thats her she never had a midde name , unless she decided to use her sisters name as her middle one Huh suppose its possible
