Hello, My mother is trying to find anything about what happened to Able Seaman Bill Beresford who was serving on the Boreas when she was attacked in Dover harbour about 1940. My mother 'went out' with Bill for a while and she recalls that he came from Yorkshire. Bill was badly injured when the Boreas was attacked and was in hospital for a while at Dover. Any information about the HMS Boreas (I believe it may have been a destroyer) or about Bill would be really appreciated.

Hi I can't help with Bill, but put HMS Aurora in a search engine and you'll find lots of info.

Many thanks for your replies so far. It now seems Bill was serving on the Destroyer HMS Boreas when it was attacked in 1940. Also he was something to do with communications. Possibly a Radio officer? So we are making progress on his ship.
