TANNER of Bath
« on: Friday 04 April 08 17:46 BST (UK) »

I am trying to trace any information on Charles Tanner born 1832 Bath Somerset, he was married to Ellen Trueman she was born in Seend Wiltshire. they have 2 girls Ellen Tanner b 1857 and Julia Clara Tanner born 1859 both born Bath. Charles was a butcher and on the 1901 census was living at 18 Orchard  Street Bath, Julia their daughter was also living with them at this address, she had married a James Trueman in 1895 and had a  daughter Elsie Trueman in 1896, but was back with her parents by 1901. Am very interested in any information on any of the above names. Thanks ANNY

You obviously have him on 1901 - do you have him on all other censuses?
Do you have the marriage index entry? (date?) Cert would give their father's names.
The births of the children?

Dont want to look for info you already have.

Searching on the Historical Directories site ( for keywords Tanner Charles Butcher) produces just one hit at the Orchard Street Bath address in 1902, and lots of hits between 1902 and 1919 in Exeter.

Hi Thanks for all that advise, Yes i have all census records for the family back to 1841  and marriage cert for Charles and Ellen.  What i am really after is information from the 1920's onwards ie from old relatives or  people who knew of the family  Thanks for all suggestions  ANNY
