Christmas and Picknell
« on: Sunday 04 April 04 15:10 UTC (UK) »

My fathers family came from Sussex and the Welsh borders. His mothers name was Rhoda Christmas, and his fathers name was Picknell. I know my grandmothers father was Master of Hounds, I'd like to find out how to pursue research into both families.

Hi vivi

I am aware that there are several recorded instances of the surname Christmas / Chrismas in Hastings.

If you give me a few forenames and dates, then I will see what I can find for you

Hi again

Member No: 4073 in the Guild of One-Name studies has a large data base of Christmas surnames with Variations; his details are:

Name: Mr Henry Christmas
Address: 32 Sandygate Avenue, Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Post Code: SY2 6TF
Registered names: Christmas
With variants: Chrismas, Christmass, Christtmass, Christemasse, Chrysmas

E-mail:  christmas@one-name.org

Family historians who are not members of the Guild may contact Guild members, who are under an obligation to answer all reply-paid enquiries which they receive.
In contacting a Guild member, you will probably find it most productive if you can ask specific questions rather than general ones and if you can provide specific information relating to your enquiry including full names, dates and locations about the family or families you are interested in.

If you write to him, please make sure you enclose a stamped self addressed envelope
